Not so Beautiful Mind

Yesterday morning I dreamt I was at: “The Kenny Everet Drink ‘til ya sh*t Yourself Party”. I have some pretty strange and sometimes sick dreams but the depravity of my subconscious astounded me with that one. I assure you…it did. (I know you’ll never think of me in the same light again.) I’ll spare you the details besides saying that, as usual these days, I was the only one not drinking.

Okay, just pause and try and get over that for a while now… I know it’s hard. Try being me!

The Kenny Everet Video Show is one of those shows I remember, that Greg doesn’t, because he’s such a bay-be! Along with The Greatest American Hero, The Young Ones, Bionic Women, I think he might have been around for the A-Team and Night Rider?? We are a whole generation apart! I’m like Alanis Morrisette “born in nineteen seventy-four”. Bloody good year that!

Well I wish the reason I haven’t been updating as often was because I was too busy on my piano, but the truth is I’ve only managed to figure out how to play the scale of C Major (Shut up!!!), wait for it, with both hands at the same time backwards and forwards. (Is that better?) Next I’ll tackle D major and then I’ll be paying all Nick Cave’s beautiful ballads and Ray Manzarek’s deadly solo’s.

Actually the weather has been so glorious that we have been spending heaps of time out in the yard. In comparison Anakin can’t stand it inside. He explores the whole yard – down to the skate ramp, over to the fruit trees, back up to the tramp, he rifles through the carport, gets pushed around on the mean machine, tries to squeeze the chickens, feeds all his snacks to Snoop…He’s getting a little bit better at leaving his hat on too.

Greg put up a basketball hoop in the shed on Saturday so naturally the place has been crawling with kids. Izzy starts basketball back up this coming weekend – He wants to name his team “And2’s”

I had a phonecall from an old work colleague the other night who is going to apply for a reduced workload next year. She asked if I would like to take her class one day a week! She’s getting on and wants to increase the amount of time she has off each year until she retires – so I like to think that by the time Anakin is old enough for prep I’ll have a full time job to step into. But I spose I shouldn’t really mention my putrid dream and the fact that I could be educating your children all in one entry!

Me, 33? Couldn't Be!

I am now 33! And if you don’t hear from me for a while it’s because I’m too busy learning how to play the Casio Keyboard that Greg bought me for my birthday yesterday while swanning around in my new kimono and eating chocolate covered goji berries.

Emo's, Just wrong

My 10 year old son has developed a major aversion towards those that dress up as “Emo’s”. I’m pretty open-minded but he thinks the chipped black nail polish, the skinny jeans, mascara, bad hair cuts and feigned depression is a joke. There’s a bunch of them floating around here and I’ve had to enforce restraint on him not to yell taunts from our passing vehicle. What a little sh*t.

He knows what he likes that’s for sure – he likes Bogans and he hates Emo’s.

He can’t talk, he’s a total fruitloop. At the skatepark yesterday him and his cousin ran around waxing up the rails and when the irritated skaters yelled at them to stop they just shouted back random things like “COFFEE BEAN!!” “ICE-CREAM!!!” They reminded me of Brick in Anchorman “LOUD NOISES!”Plus he made an open mockery of “The Bird and The Worm” in front of some definite black eye makeup, skinny jeans wearing types!

He’ll get his skull clunked one day.

Tempting Fate

To tell you the truth I felt a bit sh*t after writing that entry yesterday – serves me right for talking myself up like I’m some kinda hybrid human being that never gets sick. (But in truth, I am, a coupla deep breaths and I was fine…) I’m always tempting fate like that anyway – My sister tells me there’s the worst kind of bacteria on the surface of egg cartons and all over peanuts so I give one a lick in between bites of a peanut butter sandwich (not quite).

I was traumatized by an awful dream last night! It was so horrible, with a psychopathic serial killing carver. It was so full of blood and gore and horror which ended up being illustrated in this kid’s book with Lilo and Stitch-like characters that I was worried Bubby was going to be exposed to. I think it stemmed from my worry that Izzy is going to accidentally open the Saw movies Greg has on the hard drive – I keep threatening him that I’m going to delete them. I can’t believe any normal person would want to watch them anyway!! If I did I’d be damaged goods! I hate the fact that movies like that exist without the thought that people actually enjoy them! God, how mad are ya?

Anakin is adorable the way he mimics things to learn. He blows on his food and gets out a tissue to blow his nose on. He’s been talking on the telephone lately too and holds all the remotes to his ear for a yarn.

The chickens made it through the night and are chirping away happily in the sunshine. I found them a nice warm beanie to snuggle up with – worked a treat.

Which Came First?

School holidays mean I don’t get too much time to myself to update my journal, only just enough time to check up on everyone else’s.

I finally got some sun today! Stripped off, rubbed on some coconut oil (the real stuff) and basked…God, how nice! (The glory of a two acre block is that you can find a little spot behind the fruit trees where noone can see you from the road.) With a House and Garden mag’ this time and a cup of yogurt instead of a cuppa tea. Glory be!

My mate from Wongetti Beach rode her Harley down for an overnight visit on Thursday. It was so good to see her and her DS, she’s such good value. We used to be walking buddies back when we both lived at Trinity Beach and the boys went to school together. She’s doing Digital Technologies at Uni these days and gave me a couple of tutorials on Adobe Photoshop – I’m yet to test how much of it actually sunk in – I’m feeling pretty thick these days! I wish she had of been doing Uni when I was – would’ve made life much more interesting – a couple of renegades together!

Everyone who comes to visit gets dragged for a look at the block and she was no exception! And how’s this? There was a For Sale sign on a neighbouring block similar size as ours and they are asking $69, 000 dollars MORE than what I got mine for! Gotta love it!! I’m so proud of myself for scoring the perfect bargain in the perfect spot! Can’t wait to get it slashed and start planting it out with lots of natives and fruit trees. It’s my birthday soon so you can get me a seedling if you like.

I bought the boys three little chickens at the markets this morning. They’re so tiny – I hope they’ll survive these cold nights! They’re rugged up in a patch of sunlight in the kitchen at the moment – they were in a bit of shock after the drive home but they’ve come to life now and had a big feed too. Here’s hoping they survive to adulthood and give us three eggs a day!

Greg has had some gastro complaint and has spent the last few days clutching his guts looking like Hugh Heffner creeping around in his dressing gown. He’s really living up to his pet name “Spook” – he’s as white as a ghost all right! I don’t make much of a nurse either – being so robust myself (shrugging off dengue fever in a day…fending off the flu with a dose of sunshine…squeezing out a 4 kilo baby in three hours… ) I don’t have much patience for sick people – their bloody useless! (God I’m nice!) I’ll have to endeavor to make him feel more looked after, poor soul. After all he always brings me water when I’m thirsting in our bed…
